Today, as artisans capable of making celluloid frames disappear, Ptolemy48's artisans have once again created a celluloid frame after a long absence. Ptolemy48's celluloid uses material that has been slowly dried and hardened, giving it just the right amount of "flex" with little deformation, and careful polishing by hand by skilled artisans brings out the deep luster unique to celluloid. A simple Wellington-shaped celluloid frame, its front designed based on the slim-lined French Wellington made in the 1950s with gradually added thickness, paired with a temple design carrying the distinctive atmosphere of coreless frames made before the 1940s. Combined with a new triple-hinge mechanism, it produces an outstanding fit.
