Craftsmanship
TWO MASTERS. ONE VISION.
Designed and crafted in Japan.
Ptolemy48 began with an encounter between a designer determined to challenge convention and craftsmen who believed there was no such thing as impossible.
Designs never seen before. Ideas with no precedent. To these ambitions, the craftsmen have responded with mastery, ingenuity, and an unwavering commitment to possibility.
As the designer pushes toward the limit, the craftsmen pursue what lies beyond it. As new possibilities emerge from craftsmanship, the designer reaches for even higher ground.
Neither side concedes. Each demands more of the other.
From this exchange emerges something singular.
The creative tension that drives this process is sustained by a trust forged over decades.
Built upon that trust, Ptolemy48 continues to open new possibilities in technique and expression.

Behind every Ptolemy48 frame stands the collective expertise of specialists.
Toolmakers, polishers, master engravers, assemblers, jewelry artisans, plating experts, and fitting craftsmen. Each brings a distinct discipline, refined over years of dedication.
Traditional craftsmanship meets advanced technology. Every process is executed by hand, without compromise or shortcuts.
Different disciplines.
One standard.
A singular result.
A single frame requires six to eight months to complete.
Not because it must.
Because nothing less will do.
Rare techniques, preserved across generations, are entrusted to the hands of craftsmen who continue to refine them. Beauty and performance are pursued as one, never as a compromise between the two.
Advanced one-piece press construction delivers exceptional structural precision, minimizing distortion and allowing lenses to perform exactly as intended.
The result is clarity.
Comfort.
Confidence.
Brought to life by master craftsmen, each frame becomes the culmination of function, artistry, and time.
No comparison that fits.
NO EQUIVALENT.
The Artistry of Craft and Material
Japanese hand engraving, a traditional technique long practiced in fine metalwork, is one of the defining expressions of Ptolemy48.
Its beauty lies in dimension. Sculpted surfaces create depth, while delicate line engraving catches and reflects light with remarkable subtlety. The result is a richness of detail that can only be achieved by hand, lending each frame a quiet sense of distinction.
This expression is further elevated through carefully selected materials. Premium titanium meets acetate, natural stone, rare horn, and pearls chosen for their exceptional presence.
Each element is chosen with purpose. Each detail contributes to the whole.
Through the union of craft, material, and imagination, Ptolemy48 creates frames where technical mastery and artistic expression become one.
Rooted in craft.
Driven by possibility.

Creating What Does Not Yet Exist
White horn is among the most demanding natural materials in eyewear. The slightest deviation in craftsmanship can require an entire piece to be started again from the beginning.
For Ptolemy48, that was never a reason to step back.
It was a reason to go further.
In collaboration with master artisans of Echizen lacquerware, a craft tradition refined over more than 1,500 years, we pursued a possibility that had not existed before: a colored horn frame combining exceptional durability with the natural beauty of horn.
From concept to completion, the project demanded nearly 2,000 hours of development and craftsmanship.
The result was more than a frame.
It was the meeting of disciplines, traditions, and techniques rarely brought together in a single object.
Created through the collective mastery of Japanese artisans, White Horn stands as a testament to what can emerge when limitations are treated not as boundaries, but as invitations.
Not an improvement on what existed.
The creation of something that did not.

Design, Elevated. Performance, Perfected.
At the heart of Ptolemy48 lies a belief that bold design demands equal performance.
Exceptional comfort, optical precision, durability, and consideration for sensitive skin are engineered into every frame. Every element serves a purpose. Nothing is added without reason.
Bringing ambitious ideas into reality requires more than design alone. It demands the skill, dedication, and accumulated knowledge of Japanese craftsmen whose expertise has been shaped across generations.
Every component is produced in Japan. Every frame undergoes rigorous durability testing and must meet strict CE standards before it is allowed to bear the name Ptolemy48.
The result is more than performance.
It becomes part of the wearer.
Crafted with conviction.
Verified without compromise.
