Ptolemy48's celluloid uses material that has been slowly dried and hardened, giving it just the right amount of "flex" with little deformation, and careful polishing by hand by skilled artisans brings out the deep luster unique to celluloid. Hailed as a "Japanese-made Wayfarer," this authentic Wellington shape improves on the poor fit of the Wayfarer, adjusted to suit Japanese faces. The vertical width is set to just the right height so it doesn't press against the cheeks, and the nose width is also brought inward, keeping a sharp design while greatly improving the fit. The diversity of celluloid fabric colors, and the new "J-hinge" mechanism. By positioning the temple's opening pivot point toward the rear, sliding forward while wearing the glasses is greatly improved. The "J-hinge" is made from press-formed beta titanium, increasing elasticity, and combined with the coreless celluloid construction, produces a comfortable head-holding fit. A titanium ornament is fitted to the temples, secured with a rivet method. A frame completed with true artisan craftsmanship, incorporating extensive secondary processing on the celluloid fabric. All metal parts use titanium, each individually plated to greatly improve durability.
