Product Details

The celluloid in Ptolemy 48 frames uses a slowly dried and hardened celluloid material, providing just the right amount of flexibility, resistance to deformation, and a deep, lustrous sheen unique to celluloid, achieved through meticulous polishing by skilled artisans. These vintage celluloid glasses are a testament to craftsmanship, featuring both "the charm of black luster" and "the beauty of curved temples." The natural celluloid material, made from cotton, is matured, and then the world's first 6mm sheets are laminated together before being shaved down to 3.5mm for lighter weight. The black luster, polished by artisans who are the first in the world to curve celluloid material for the temples, is truly distinctive. Equipped with the world's first three-barrel beta-titanium hinges, combined with elastic temples, these frames offer unprecedented comfort. The titanium end pieces feature "Onyx Black," and the temples, crafted from 7mm celluloid material, boast a beautifully carved curve, not hand-bent, which is a true display of craftsmanship, resulting in temples that are both celluloid and elastic.

By using β-titanium spring nose pads, a cushioning effect is created, making these frames feel remarkably light when worn.
