The front is crafted from Italian Mazzucchelli acetate, while the temples are made from swaged beta titanium. To maximize the material’s inherent flexibility, the titanium is press-formed from 1.5 mm to an ultra-thin 0.7 mm and shaped into Ptolemy48’s distinctive wave-profile temples.
Each finished temple is then individually laser-cut with an intricately detailed leaf motif, creating precise openwork throughout the design. In a construction distinctive to Ptolemy48, the beta-titanium endpieces are secured into precisely cut slits in the acetate, integrating the metal components directly with the front.
Six Swarovski crystals are set into the front. Viewed straight on, the leaf motif appears to show through the frame, creating a delicate sense of transparency that further accentuates the decorative character of the design.
