3mm sheet titanium is three-dimensionally shaped into a crown panto form, with a keyhole added to the bridge, and an ultra-thin 0.6mm beta-titanium sheet layered on top — a frame requiring the kind of precision only Japanese artisans can achieve. The inner beta-titanium sheet features a traditional Japanese hemp-leaf (asa-no-ha) pattern design. The hemp-leaf pattern expresses the complex structure found in nature, containing the kagome lattice motif, through polygonal shapes, radiating a harmonious energy that can also be described as a water-crystal pattern. When this hemp-leaf pattern is viewed even more three-dimensionally, with each unit spreading outward radially, the cosmic, constellation-like pattern behind the Ptolemy48 name begins to reveal itself.
